We all seem to have special rituals and traditions we feel compelled to do on drizzly grey days. My mom and sister like to bake. My Facebook news feed is full of status updates about watching movies under blankets and consuming comfort foods. My preferred rainy day activities are of the crafty variety. I've been holed up in my craft room during all of Margaret's naps for the past few days.
I made Margaret a little felt barn to go with the Ikea farm animals we bought this past weekend.
It started as a basic red and brown felt barn, but I couldn't tear myself away from it until it had an internal structure of recycled cereal boxes and cottage cheese tub lids. Then I went to town embroidering embellishments. I still think I might go back and add some grass and flowers around the sides. It might be fun to add a mat with a pig wallow, duck pond, and pasture, too.
Here it is for now: (Excuse the crappy picture quality; I don't have much natural light to work with today.)
If anyone's interested in a tutorial just leave a comment or drop me an email.
I was going through Margaret's upcoming fall and winter clothes the other day and realized her wardrobe was lacking in long sleeved tees. So I picked up a handful of plain solid colored ones at Wal-Mart for about $10. I've been having fun adding appliques and making coordinating felt clippies.

Once I finish the shirts and hair clips, I want to try making a "daisykin." I bought the materials on clearance at Michaels yesterday for just $10.
