It's for the weak.

I'm trying to find some videos or DVDs of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood or Fred Penner's Place, and I'm having no luck at all. Amazon has a few DVDs of the former and videos of the latter, but they don't have enough info for me to feel secure buying them. Annoying.

So, have you ever met...

a human being...

who doesn't sleep?

I have.

We have sproutage

Spring has sprung. Our little seeds are starting to pop up buds. The cucumbers were first to sprout. Okra and zucchini are on their tails.

We're all totally excited:

Large Marge

Margaret had a check-up yesterday and we learned that at 7 months, our little chunk is already 20 lbs!

She's in the 93% for weight, and the 90% for height. Too bad Fritz wasn't smart enough to "mark her in a way that only [he would] know" while she was being delivered. Switched at birth, this one was.

Dr. T told Margaret (and her parents) that she's being very naughty for still eating every 4 hours all through the night and that a great grown girl like she is should be sleeping better. Let's see if his words hold more weight than ours for our little ruffian.

In other news, we broke out the mesh feeder this afternoon and gave Meg a piece of pear. She enjoyed it very much. Wish I'd have gotten pictures.

Time to get the high chair out of the garage, I think. We have this cheap Cosco high chair I bought when providing daycare out of the house a few years ago. I like the simple design for clean-up, but it doesn't match our kitchen at all. I contemplated buying a new one but then decided that if I just paint the legs black and sew a new cover for the back, it will look just fine. So that's the plan for tomorrow. We'll see if it actually gets done..

Margaret does new things

She wears clippies...

...and cool hair-dos.

She drinks from sippies...

.. and noms on toes.

And she does it all in her charming Margarety way.

First Birthday Party Favors

I got a custom order a couple of weeks ago for 15 4" blocks. The creative mom who placed the order wanted them for goody bags for her son's first birthday. What a cool idea, huh?

They're embroidered with the birthday boy's name on one side, the guest's name on another, and a stamped "1" for the occasion. Since the birthday is on March 17th, she ordered them in a St. Patrick's day theme. I used two different shamrock fabrics and coordinating colors.

Unfortunately, I had a surgery scheduled for right before the (already tight) deadline. Fortunately, my mom helped me out with stitching the blocks closed after they were sewn and stuffed, and they made it out in time.

Bonus, I learned how to use my grandma's embroidery machine!

2 Things

First, can anyone tell me how the heck to reply to comment boxes like this one:

I always type out my comment, select something from the dropdown menu, and hit "Post Comment." The page reloads, and no comment from me. I've tried selecting different things from the dropdown menu (Google acount, name/URL, anonymous), and nothing happens. I've also tried hitting "Preview," but again, page reload and nothing. What's up? I want to enter that giveaway, darnit!

Second, this? Really cool. I wonder if I could make one...

Someone recently posted this question on a message board I frequent:

"What would you do if you won $100 or $1,000 or $10,000 in the lottery? What would the Practical You do, and what would the Fun You do?"

I've been thinking about that question a lot.

$100 - water storage barrel
$1,000 - emergency savings
$10,000 - $5,000 into a high-interest savings account and $5,000 emergency savings

$100 - $50 worth of nice cheeses and pasta and $50 for a fruit tree
$1,000 - $500 for landscaping and $500 for carpet for the basement
$10,000 - $1000 landscaping, $1000 carpet, $2000 new kitchen counters and farmhouse sink, $2000 road trip to Disneyland, $500 have house exterior painted, $1000 update Fritz's and my wardrobe, $2500 savings (I can't help it!)

What would you do?
